Investigating the Application of Experimental Regime Equations in Alluvial Channels of Mazandaran Province

During the past decades, many regime equations have been proposed for the design of alluvial channels. Since most of these equations were created based on the information obtained from certain geographical areas, they cannot be used for all areas. It is essential to evaluate the equations before using them. Therefore, in this research, different regime equations have been evaluated in the alluvial channels of Mazandaran province to introduce the most suitable regime equation for the region. Lacy, Blanche, Simmons Alberston and Zand Parsa and Javan equations were evaluated in this research. Data on flow rate, velocity, cross-section, water surface slope, water depth, water surface width, concentration, and size of bed and wall particles were collected, and different regime equations were analyzed using the obtained information. To check the quality of each model, parameters of mean absolute error, mean square error and error percentage were used. After the qualitative evaluation for the wetted medium, the equations of Zand Parsa and Javan and Simon and Alberston, for the hydraulic radius, the width of the water surface, and the flow speed of Simon Alberston and the slope of the Blanch equation were found to be appropriate. The results showed that the equation presented by Simmons and Alberston has shown a better estimate because it has been investigated for channels with different conditions of bottom particle size and sediment concentration.
