Abstract
Since the distant past, the country of Iran has been faced with water shortage and the imbalance of its spatial and temporal distribution, therefore, considering the importance of this area, the present research has estimated the factors affecting the price of drinking water in Tehran based on the hedonic demand function. The statistical population of this research includes the information related to the consumers of Tehran city in 2024, who were selected from the available sampling method and finally 166 people were identified as the research sample. These 166 people have been identified due to the number of samples available in this field. In this research, by using the Delphi method and with the help of experts, the factors affecting the price of water such as odor, presence of suspended particles, electrical conductivity, PH, sediment, taste, oxygen level, color, turbidity and chlorine content have been selected. Using the hedonic function, the effectiveness of each of these factors has been measured in such a way that based on the results of the ordinary least squares estimation, it can be seen that all the coefficients of the variables selected by the experts in the final model have been statistically significant and positive. Thus, increasing the importance of the desired quality variables for the surveyed people increases the willingness to pay more for drinking water.
