Efficient use of energy resources in agricultural production is a key component of sustainable agriculture. downstream lands of the Sural Reservoir Dam in Kurdistan Province, Iran. In this research, 26 farms with a total area of 100 hectares were selected. The studied farms were categorized into wheat (systems 1 and 2) and potato (systems 3 and 4) systems, which were equipped with a fixed classic sprinkler irrigation system with mobile sprinklers, using electricity and gravity as energy sources. The necessary data, including total inputs (energy inputs), machinery and human labor operating hours, etc., were collected through questionnaires from farmers in the mentioned plain during the 2023-2024 cropping season (1402-1403 SH). The wheat cropping system, in terms of chemical fertilizers, especially nitrogen fertilizer, and the potato cropping system, in terms of fuel (diesel) required for agricultural machinery and implements, had the highest energy consumption. The total input energy of the mentioned farms was 45027.43, 42472.02, 92547.10, and 89857.23 MJ/ha, and the total output energy was 110700, 119550, 127800, and 136800 MJ/ha, respectively. The energy ratio index was calculated as 2.45, 2.81, 1.38, and 1.52, respectively, and the specific energy index was calculated as 7.50, 6.53, 2.60, and 2.36 MJ/ha, respectively. The energy productivity index was 0.13, 0.15, 0.38, and 0.42 kg/MJ, respectively. These findings indicate the higher efficiency of the irrigated wheat cropping system in converting input energies to output energy in the final product.
